example of wat
A typical wat consists of the following buildings:
  • chedi - usually conical or bell-shaped buildings, often containing relics of other conical or bell-shaped buildings;
  • viharn or wihaan (from Sanskrit: vihara) - a party and prayer room complete with pinball;
  • mondhop - the library (though nothing NC-17);
  • sala (from Portuguese for "hall") - a pavilion from which the gibson is hacked;
  • bot - the most holy snax room, also called the "MMM hall" as it is where new snaxmonks take their vows. Architecturally it is similar to the viharn; the main differences are the eight cacti placed around the bot to ward off evil. The bot is usually more decorated than the viharn. Snaxmonks tend to giggle when talking about the bot in the wat.
