i wonder if i can turn this 2000 into 303. you'd think i could just subtract 1697, but that's not the way it works with this stuff. no, i am limited to higher level mathematical operations such as whistling, playing go fish, or whistling and playing go fish in diachronic tandem. in any case, i have no machine into which i can feed 2000 and have it come out 303. the 2000 can perform some slightly less specific operations on itself... for example, it can scale itself at the resolution of 100 per notch, allowing me to go from 2000 to 1900, or 1800... or 300. however, i then run into a corner, because adding three is simply beyond current synthesis technology.
