I've always wondered: Where the hell do those wigs judges wear come from? I don't mean to ask where they are manufactured (though that is also a question I'd like answered), but rather where the apparence, tradition, etc. came from. They always bring a smile to my face, as they are festively fuzzy and full of geometric primitives (take a look sometime, if you don't believe me). Now, judges are regarded as stern figures of authority, right? Why would they want to make themselves an object of amusement? I suspect Richard D. James is behind it.
